The Ninja Slug, one of National Geographic’s Ten Weirdest New Animals of 2010 is given its name due to one of its mating behaviors. Specifically, they apparently shoot hormone-laced “love darts” to their mate, kind of like Cupid’s arrows. Or so says Nat Geo.
Related posts from MSP about animal mating behavior and/or animal genitals include posts about penile shape, Hawaiian boobies, and the sex lives of snails, slugs, porcupines and other animals. After all, it wouldn’t be fair to focus exclusively on humans given the fascinating sex lives in the rest of the animal kingdom.
