I’d like to think that I have a good sense of humor, but there are a few subjects that I just can’t manage to find funny and intimate partner violence (also known as domestic violence) is one such subject. A friend sent me a link to a sign she’d read about that reads “I like my beer like I like my violence . . . Domestic.” My jaw dropped as I just can’t manage to find this funny at all. I used to be a bartender, and my fellow employees and I would try to outwit each other with sayings to put outside of the bar so I understand wanting to get attention – but this just seems like the wrong type of attention to me. If you’re wondering where the sign is from, it’s a bar in Philadelphia named Smith’s on 19th Street, according to the article I linked to.
