What a nice surprise to learn about this morning: the first review, and a positive one, of my new book, Because It Feels Good: A Woman’s Guide to Sexual Pleasure and Satisfaction, by Jen Miller of the St. Petersburg Times. A long time ago someone said to me that books should pass the “airplane test” (e.g., would people be comfortable reading the book on an airplane?). Interestingly, Ms. Miller writes: “While it does have some drawings and diagrams, it doesn’t hit you over the head with images, or make you want to cover the book if you’re reading in public.” It’s good to hear that at least one reviewer (the first one! the book is out this coming week, but available online now) felt comfortable with it in hand, even in public.
I’m also – and this is for my own reasons – pleased that the first review that came to me was from Florida, where I grew up (I saw a New Kids on the Block concert years ago in Tampa/St. Pete and more recently saw about a dozen or so dolphins in the area while in town for a conference).
Thanks, Ms. Miller, for your review!
