I was looking through Miami event calendars for things to do while in town for the next few weeks, and I stumbled upon an apparent typo (follow the link and then look carefully in the description of their afternoon tea event). Oh my, Biltmore. You’re getting almost as sassy as Barack Obama parading his abs on a beach in Hawaii. Continue Reading →

This week’s sex research conference
This week I’m in San Juan, Puerto Rico for a sex research conference – specifically, the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality. The conference began today and already I attended an interesting presentation about the changing perceptions of personal lubricants, presented by Dr. Sandra Leiblum. Though I’ve conducted research related to women’s and men’s use of personal lubricants, I am always happy to learn about others’ perspectives and Dr. Leiblum certainly delivered. She is a very well-respected sex therapist and shared interesting insights about her experiences recommending lubricants to couples. I’m glad that I went. Continue Reading →
Tonight: Patty Brisben Foundation Annual Gala
If you live in or around the Cincinnati area, I hope you will join me at the Patty Brisben Foundaton’s annual gala. I go every year (find me in photos from the 2006 event) and it is a wonderful time – the music is fantastic, the food is delicious and proceeds are directed toward the Foundation’s efforts to improve research and education around women’s sexual health and wellness issues. Hope to see you there! Continue Reading →

Kinsey Confidential: LIVE
Whew! Long day today – but an interesting one that capped off with a Kinesy Confidential: Live sex question & answer event at IU Bloomington. You can learn more about it on Kinsey Confidential. Special thanks to go IU Health & Wellness and Pure Romance for their dedicated organization of the event and for its sponsorship. We are so fortunate at IU to have the support of many great sexuality educators and researchers, and to have an openness in the community in terms of talking and asking about sexuality. Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health’s Spring Affair
For the third year in a row, I helped to host the Illinois Caucus for Adolescent’s Health (ICAH) annual fundraiser this past spring. This year it was at a fantastic gallery space in Chicago and was a brunch rather than an evening event. I always like checking out party photos and was surprised to learn that a photo of me chatting with Ken Lehman (a very bright and committed philanthropist and the dad of a phenomenal woman who has been instrumental with ICAH’s work) was making its way around the internet. You can browse the Flickr photo stream to see photos of me introducing a filmmaker and congresswoman (I look awkward in the photos, but they were riveting – Congresswoman Jan Schakowsy is one of the most poised women I’ve met), and photos of ICAH’s director, board members, staff, and the fantastic youth who helped create their recent promotional film about the importance of advocating for adolescent health issues. To learn more about ICAH, please visit their web site. Continue Reading →
Babeland Seattle’s 15th anniversary party – burlesque dancers included
Look what I got in the mail! (Well, email anyway…)
On Thursday September 18, join Babeland’s co-founder, Rachel Venning, and various burlesque dancers to celebrate their 15th anniversary. Babeland continues to have such a presence in the United States as a sex-positive store that provides as much sexuality information as it does quality products. Learn more about Babeland on their web site and, if you’re in the area, consider stopping by their party (see the invite below for more details). There will be cupcakes, too!! Continue Reading →
London’s erotic ball, Night of the Senses
Coming up soon, London is hosting the 15th annual Night of the Senses, an erotic ball with portions of the proceeds directed to charity. I had actually never heard of this event before but there’s much to learn about it – check out their web site to see photos of women and men in (and out of) erotic costumes (then again, I suppose our birthday suits are something of an erotic costume in certain circumstances, but not others), to learn about the "guests room", their history, their philosophy and pricing structure, and the "treasures and treats" that range from mess cake fights to a breast fondling booth to an "upskirt" experience and a tantric cavern. Learn more at nightofthesenses.com
