Greetings from Florence, Italy! I’m in town attending the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health. Today was the first day of presentations and it was truly fascinating… particularly as one of my major areas of interest is understanding more about women’s bodies and – one day – being able to better address questions such as:
- What makes it easier for women to orgasm (physically speaking)?
- Why do some women orgasm easily and others do not?
- How do genital sensation and pleasure change with age and menopause?
- What is it about the skin and tactile stimulation that enhance or detract from arousal?
One of the highlights (for me) today was one researcher’s presentation about how finger and penile stimulation of the vagina affect the vagina, clitoris and urethra (what another researcher, Dr. Helen O’Connell has described as the clitoral complex as they tend to work as a unit rather then separately – in other words, stimulating one part has ramifications for the other parts).
Another highlight was fantastic ravioli and panna cotta. Go figure.
So… I’m learning this week! I’m also presenting data on Friday in relation to women’s sexual function and its association with vibrator use.
More later.
Good night…
Debby
