Tumblr As A Queer Outlet

I first discovered Tumblr, a sort of user-friendly interactive blogosphere, a little over a year ago. Though similar to wordpress and blogspot in it’s blogging capabilities, it pulls a lot of its format from Twitter, allowing users to “reblog” various quotes, stories, images, and videos that strike their fancy. Within a week of using Tumblr, I realized there are a whole slew of queer-oriented blogs.

I wonder what it is about this particular online tool that fosters such a strong sense of queer community. Ranging in fluffiness from the often political LGBTLaughs to the very well known Lesbians Who Look Like Justin Bieber, Tumblr is full of spaces for queermos to complain, laugh, lust, rant, cry, and click all they want.

Here are some of my favorite LGBTQ-related Tumblr blogs. Use your own discrepancy while viewing these at work, people.
