True Blood and Weeds- Hopping on the Gay Train?

We all know what we’re getting into when we tune into shows like Queer Eye, The L Word, Queer as Folk, and (yes, I’m embarrassed to admit this in such a public sphere but I do watch it) The Real L Word. But recently, shows that aren’t necessarily marketed solely to the gay community have been hopping on the gay train (think Glee, Modern Family, even the OC back in the day).

To my delight, the summer season has brought about some lesbian love on two of my favorite cable shows, Weeds and True Blood. According to each season opener, some of the main characters have been getting some lady-lovin. Fast forward a year on True Blood and Tara has become a champion wrestler, and just-so-happens to be dating her sexy opponent (you can read about it on Autostraddle). Fast forward three on Weeds, and Nancy Botwin is getting cozy with her cell-mate. What does all of this mean? Lesbians are taking over the world, obviously.

I look forward to seeing what next week brings!
