Sex Round-Up

jezebel under the desk

Meet Jezebel. That’s her under my desk (she came to work with me recently and wanted to stick as close to me as possible). As I get used to my brand new responsibilities that involve setting a routine, walking and feeding Jezebel (the shelter gave her that name and how serendipitous given my work), and letting her run wild at doggie parks, busy times call for a sex round-up.

Here are some interesting things I’ve found of late (some thanks to tips from friends and readers) that I thought you might be interested in, too:

- Author, activist, and fantasmagical sex educator Cory Silverberg (Sexuality Guide at About.com) has some insightful thoughts and tips for parents on how to talk to their children about pornography (About.com)

- The always-good-to-read Dr. Petra Boynton has news about an upcoming workshop to be held on November 13 in London titled “Disability: Sex, Relationships and Pleasure”. Sounds very worthwhile – if you’re in the area and a healthcare provider, counselor/therapist or an educator (or just interested in the topic), consider checking it out. [Dr. Petra]

- Need to find time for a better sex life? To do so will likely require that you start learning how to say no to things that make you too busy for pleasure, intimacy and time alone in bed together. Or by yourself. Check out these very good tips for learning how to say no to more work/projects/responsibilities that may be getting in the way of your most loving, intimate relationships. [Online Organizing]

- Thank you, Carl Honore, for your wise words via “In Praise Of Slow Sex”. I couldn’t agree more. [Huffington Post]

- Feeling a little science-y? Curious about aging sperm? Yeah, me too. Late last week I was pouring over this article. [Oxford Journals]

- Do men’s testosterone levels rise with just any cars? Or only fast, sporty cars? What about when they’re driving down women-filled streets? The results of this study may interest you. [Autoblog]

- Vulvagraphics is this weekend!! If I were in NYC, this is what I would be doing. I would be celebrating female genital diversity with these lovely, lovely, smart, interesting women. [Vulvagraphics, New View Campaign]

In reference to the article in the Autoblog about testosterone levels and sports cars, I’d be curious to know if testosterone levels continued to rise over a longer period of time–for instance, if the person driving it owned the car, and drove it frequently.
