Porn Company Good For Community

This story about Kink.com opening its doors to local community events was featured on local news in the bay area. Working in the arena that I do, I didn’t feel shocked like many in the video seem to be.

It seems that many people think that all pornographers and adult business owners are shady slimy perverts who are there to corrupt the community. Yes, there are plenty of shady adult business owners (and non-adult business owners) out there, but there are also many who believe in treating their employees, customers, and communities with respect.

Kink.com has a good reputation as an adult business which is why the news did not surprise me, but it did make me happy. The piece points out how many didn’t want the company moving into the armory because they feared for the community; now they see that Kink.com wants to better the community and has even made donations to the non-profit center next door.

This is exactly the reason that I started my column Ethical Pornographer. I wanted to be able to highlight those who make porn and strive to do it in an ethical way.

What do people expect from a British guy? lol

It is funny to think that it’s one of the more “extreme” sites producing adult media being so active in the community. There are certainly a lot of bigger names in the American porn market who don’t seem to offer anything back to their own community.

I have to say it is definitely good marketing too. How many thousands of people have discovered the site thanks to this story?
