This video breaks my heart. CNN’s Anderson Cooper talks to the parents of Jamey Rodemeyer, a teenager who committed suicide after having been bullied for being gay. His father talks about his son’s message about acceptance and also about what they went through at the school to try to get the bullying to stop. I cannot emphasize enough how much we need everyone’s help on this issue – we need parents and teachers to teach kids about empathy and compassionate; we need to see less bullying and evil behavior to each other on television; and we need more action against bullying at school. If someone is violent or aggressive, arrest them or suspend or expel them, depending on the behavior. Until we take more action, we are going to continue to lose good kids before they have their own opportunities to find out that it gets better.
