Whether for simple comic relief or in a sincere effort to take on a female role in films, countless actors have donned dresses and lipstick on screen. This recent post from Wonderwall highlights some of the best and most famous men-in-drag roles.
While this list certainly highlights some of my favorites (Nathan Lane in The Birdcage, Tim Curry in Rocky Horror, and RuPaul, the sassiest cross-dresser I know of), it leaves out some of the famous gender-bending roles that women have played.
Just as I was about to make a list of my personal favorites, I found this list (which of course, includes #1 on my list, my girl Hilary Swank). Who will be the next star to blur gender lines on film? I can’t wait to find out.
