Sex Toy Review: The Vanity Vr3

The Vanity Vr3, available from MyPleasure, is an example of how far sex toys have come over the past decade. In fact, I would put it in the top 5% of vibrators I’ve come across – and that’s saying a lot. Here’s why:

Like many higher end vibrators, the Vanity Vr3 is made of silicone and is rechargeable. But unlike  many vibrators, it truly is – as they say in the package materials – virtually seamless. The seams are detectable but barely so, making this a smooth toy to use (particularly important for sensitive users).

Intensity

The Vanity Vr3 also starts intense, in terms of vibration, and gets only more intense. It also has two separate motors with separate push buttons. The top button operates the motor inside the large portion (which could be inserted vaginally or held up a body part of one’s choice for stimulation). The bottom button operates the motor inside the little arm that comes off the shaft of the vibrator (this arm is often used for clitoral stimulation when the other part is inside the vagina).

The shaft is tapered at the end, making for easier insertion into the vagina although I would still recommend the use of a water-based lubricant with the Vanity Vr3, as I would with any vibrator. Because this vibrator is made of silicone, you would not want to use a silicone-based lubricant.

Travel Feature

Another great feature on this toy is that it features a way to lock the toy so that it doesn’t automatically go off in your nightstand drawer (which toys oddly sometimes do) or in your luggage while traveling. It’s not intuitive – meaning there’s no “lock” button – but because I actually skimmed the package insert, I learned this. How does it work? Easy. If you hold the top and bottom buttons down for 4 seconds (simultaneously), the vibrator locks. To unlock it, do the same thing and it’s ready to use again.

Bath Time

The toy is also 100% waterproof so you can take it in the shower or bath, but my guess is you won’t given that silicone-based lubricant isn’t a good choice with this toy. One option would be to cover the toy with a latex condom and then slather silicone lubricant over the condom. That would make the toy easier to use in the shower/bath and would also keep silicone-based lubricant away from your silicone Vanity Vr3. However, the fact that the toy is waterproof does make for worry-free clean-up.

Noise

Although the package insert describes the toy as “whisper quiet”, I disagree here. It’s kind of quiet at a lower intensity setting (which is more like other toys’ medium settings) but at a higher intensity setting, it’s as loud as many other toys. Not loud, but definitely not “whisper quiet”.

Extras

The Vanity Vr3 comes in a nice white box with the charge cord, an instructional booklet, a package insert and a lovely storage bag. It would make a great gift for yourself or for a friend/lover for no reason at all…. or for Valentine’s Day, which is coming up soon. My rating? 4 1/2 orgasms out of 5.

The Vanity Vr3 is available for $147.99 from MyPleasure – expensive? Yes. But worth it? Yes.
