When I was in middle school, one of our carpool moms said that men should never give their wives “practical” gifts such as vaccuum cleaners, mops, or microwave ovens – especially for anniversary gifts. I guess this guy didn’t get her memo.
I’d add, of course, that I’d suggest people steer clear of consumerist ideas – e.g., getting stuff just to have it or because other people have it or because you have some sense that it will raise your status. Especially when it comes to relationships. Though there were some funny moments in the video, I trust that those watching it will be able to see through the idea that an expensive necklace is not the way to (most) women’s hearts.
