“In spite of their odd beginning, he was deciding not only that [she] would make his life wonderful, but that her absence would make it tragic.”
So goes this beautiful line from Steve Martin’s book “An Object of Beauty”, which I read a couple of weeks ago while on vacation in Madagascar. This line made me think a great deal about the people we meet, the connections and intimacies we develop, and the meanings we make of such relationships.
Life is absolutely beautiful. Tragic, but beautiful.
