One cold, snowy Valentine’s Day, a big box arrived at my house. It was from someone who "liked" me at the time (the love, apparently came later). But in the mean time, I had A GIFT! Which was particularly interesting since it was a relatively new relationship… and it hadn’t been terribly long since I had been in a previous relationship (the same was true for him)… and it was one of those "are we going to get each other gifts?" situations that couples often struggle with at Valentine’s Day.
So what did he get me on this partiuclar V-Day? A Slanket. A what? Yes, dear readers, a slanket. In case you are curious, a slanket is a blanket with sleeves (hence the word "slanket"). I thought it was pretty funny at first… well, and sweet, as I had recently curled up in one at his friends’ house (his friend had bought one for his girlfriend) and I thought it was sweet that my particular guy had remembered my interest in the Slanket. Plus, it made a great story when my friends asked me if he got me anything. And it remains a great gift to this very day… tonight, for example, I had work to do and was struggling to get an afghan that my grandmother crocheted for me to wrap around me while still freeing my hands to work on my laptop… and then I remembered. "It’s slanket weather!" and I went to the closet, got out my slanket, curled up and got back to work.
Moral of the story: slankets are great gifts for people who like to curl up on the sofa but still have their hands free to type on their laptop, read books or pat dogs/cats. You can thank me later. Check out the Slanket web site here.
