In a Halloween-timed scientific publication, a team of researchers from China and the United Kingdom have found that not only do fruit bats have oral sex (specifically, fellatio) but that they (a) do it in at least one interesting way and that (b) fruit bat fellatio is association with a longer time spent copulating (aka “doing it”). So how are the bats doing it?
It seems that while copulating in a “hanging” rear entry position (see video below), with the head of the penis inside the female fruit bat’s vagina but the shaft still sticking out, the female will bend upward – remember, they are hanging, so she is bending toward their genitals – and then lick the shaft of the male fruit bat’s penis.
What’s even better? The research team took video of the bats having oral sex and set it to music prompting some colleagues to “tut tut” in disappointment (due to the addition of the music, not the video itself) and others – such as myself – to smile. Science can be educational and fun, too – right? I mean, it’s Bat Porn! Check out the video under the “Supporting Information” link three quarters of the way down this page.
