Vibrator Review #3: We-Vibe Sex Toy for Couples

If you’re a regular MSP reader, you may remember that I posted a review of the We-Vibe sex toy for couples earlier this summer. Then several days ago, I posted another review of the We-Vibe that was sent to me by one of the lucky MSP readers who tried it out with her partner. Here is yet another review (btw, if you would like to share reviews or comments of any sex toys that you’ve used – we-vibe or not – send them to me; I’d love to read them and post anonymously). To learn more about the We-Vibe, visit their web site or buy one through Babeland (their North American distributor). Here goes:

I like the wevibe but some positions work better than others. Continue Reading →

This week’s sex column in Time Out Chicago: anal douching, genital warts and prostate infections

If you haven’t yet read by weekly In&Out column in Time Out Chicago, what are you waiting for? How else are you going to learn about douching before anal sex, what to do when you spot a potential genital wart on your partner’s body during oral sex, or issues related to sex toys and prostate infections? Read my sex column on TOC’s web site. Continue Reading →

Review #2 of the We-Vibe Couples Sex Toy

You may remember that several months ago I posted an overall review of the We-Vibe couples sex toy. Well, Babeland (the exclusive North American distributor of the We-Vibe) was kind enough to share a few extras with me so that I could give them to various couples and learn more about how women and men feel about the We-Vibe. Curious? I was too. Here is one review… Continue Reading →

Pure Romance’s Patty Brisben at IU!

There is very little that can keep me away from a public event hosted by Pure Romance’s founder, Patty Brisben. However, last week when she came to Indiana University for a Sexploration event, I was in Mexico for a wedding so I missed what I hear was an outstanding event at Kilroy’s (a bar near the IU Bloomington campus). Patty is one of those women who is brave, confident, smart, engaging and completely down to earth. She’s spoken in my human sexuality class in previous years, as have her health educators, and my students have always said that they have left class feeling more knowledgeable and more comfortable about their bodies and sexuality. She also recently published a book called Pure Romance Between the Sheets: Find Your Best Sexual Self and Enhance Your Intimate Relationship that you can learn about on Amazon. Continue Reading →

Discussing vibrator use in San Diego

After Mexico, I flew to San Diego for the American Public Health Association meeting where I gave a talk about women’s and men’s use of vibrators. You can read the abstract here. Our talk was part of a larger symposium related to pleasure, and I was fortunate to be grouped with individuals who were doing fascinating work in the UK, India and Thailand. Though the trip was for work, I did get to walk on the beach and watch surfers for about 10 minutes (see above). Very fun. Continue Reading →

Swedish pharmacy sued for sex toy discrimination against men

Ah, Sweden. What more can be said about a country that is already so progressive that it carries sex toys in its drug stores that it’s to the point where men have filed a lawsuit against a state-run store called Apoteket for failure to sell sex toys for men even though it offers sex toys for women? In an article about the issue, one petitioner was quoted as saying that the stores had a "misguided and untrue view of sexuality whereby a woman with a dildo is seen as liberated, strong and independent, while a man with a blow-up plastic vagina is viewed as disgusting and perverted". The word from the company is that "there are no products of good quality for men on the market". But there are! Continue Reading →

MSP Sex Toy of the Week: The We-Vibe

As a sex researcher, educator and columnist, I regularly receive sex toys in the mail. Though many are quite good, there are few that I find so appealing that I can barely wait to tell my friends, colleagues and readers. The We-Vibe is one such toy. In fact, if there’s a sex toy that is likely to find its way on Facebook status updates any time soon (as in, “Audrey is in love with her We-Vibe”), this is it. The We-Vibe is a relatively small, U-shaped toy that can be charged up to vibrate for as long as 2 hours, and – get this – can be worn during intercourse. Continue Reading →
